Wednesday Q&A – 10/6/21

Ray’s question to Karen:

Q: Let’s talk canned tuna – do you like it canned in oil, canned in water or kept as far away from you as possible?

A: I love canned tuna, in fact, I’m eating leftover tuna casserole as I type this. It has been years since I’ve had tuna in oil, so I’m not sure how I feel about it. When I was young I feel like I ate tuna indiscriminately, but never liked tuna casserole. Your brother changed all that. He pointed out that tuna casserole is delicious if you use white tuna and the right recipe. He was right, so we make your mom’s tuna casserole to this day. He was also right about how much better the albacore is than generic canned tuna so now that is all we buy. Once you go albacore, there is no turning back.

Karen’s Question to Ray:

Q: So, you have me thinking about canned fish in oil. Your brother loves canned albacore, but his face wrinkles up in disgust when I eat canned sardines. He can’t understand how I can eat them and I can’t understand how he can love tuna so much and reject sardines. My question to you is how do you feel about sardines? I’m assuming that you like canned tuna. Correct me if I’m wrong.

A: I do like canned tuna! As for sardines, I’m not a fan. It has nothing to do with them being served from a can, I simply don’t care for them. If I loved them, the can wouldn’t stop me!
